About webtrees
webtrees is a free, open-source web application for genealogy. It lets you build your family tree on your own website and work on it together with your relatives from anywhere: add people and families, dates and places, sources, notes, photos and documents.
webtrees reads and writes GEDCOM, the standard file format of genealogy programs, so you can bring in a tree from another program and take it out again at any time. Privacy settings keep the details of living people hidden from visitors.
What can you do with webtrees?
Build and research your family tree online, invite relatives to add what they know, show charts such as pedigrees, descendants and fan charts, keep sources and photos with each person, and publish your family history on the web.
